Prof. Eligio Daniele Castrizio graduated in Classics in 1987. In 1990 he obtained the title of Specialist in Archaeology at the University of Lecce. In 1994 he was awarded a doctorate. In 1996 he was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship. From 1999 to 2004 he was a researcher in numismatics at the University of Messina. From 2004 to 2016 he was Associate Professor of Numismatics. Since 2016 he has been Full Professor of Numismatics. He currently holds courses in Greek and Roman Numismatics and Byzantine and Medieval Numismatics for the Bachelor of Arts and in Archaeology and Iconography of the Coin for the Master of Arts in Mediterranean Archaeology at the University of Messina. Since 2004 he has been a member of the archaeological mission of the "G. Vitelli" Papyrological Institute in Antinoupolis, Egypt. Since 2016 he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, appointed by the Minister.

His main areas of research are: monetary iconography, with particular reference to its relationship with Greek art history; Italic and Sicilian coinage in the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C.; Byzantine and medieval numismatics of southern Italy and Sicily; Egyptian coinage between late antiquity and the Arab period. Byzantine and medieval numismatics of southern Italy and Sicily; Egyptian coinage from Late Antiquity to the early Arab period; Western Greek coinage in the Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods; the cultural heritage of the five Calabrian provinces; the Riace bronzes and other Greek statues in the Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria. In addition to numerous essays and scientific articles, he has published the first two volumes of the 'History of Reggio a Fumetti' and the novels 'Demetrio il Bizantino'; 'Cinque storie reggine'; 'La più grande strage di Greci'; 'L'incisore'.

RESPONSABILE RAPPORTI CON UNIVERSITÀ, SCUOLA E GRUPPI DI RICERCA

Dr Margherita Festa is a teacher of Italian, Latin and Greek at various higher education institutions in the Reggio Calabria metropolitan area. Since 2018 she has been collaborating with newspapers, publishing houses, organisations, associations and foundations in the realisation of projects related to communication and territorial promotion. She is also the curator of aventi of a cultural nature, with particular reference to the valorisation of the publishing sector.
