PROGETTO “Palèa Jenèa - Footsteps in history”

The project "Palèa Jenèa - Footsteps in History", aimed at first and second level secondary schools in the metropolitan area of Reggio Calabria, aims to encourage and support the development of activities and initiatives in the field of history, culture, archaeology, customs and traditions of the municipality of Bova and the Grecanica area in general, with a particular focus on the knowledge and rediscovery of the Greek language, through support and in-depth didactic studies, in particular by providing

  • Modulated lessons/seminars to be held in the Institute's premises, through which in-depth studies will be offered on specific historical areas, generic or monographic themes, archaeological and/or historical-artistic themes related to the Bovesìa. All this will be supported by multimedia projections.

  • Conferences and/or didactic workshops for students and teachers in the premises of the Institute and/or the Greek Language Museum "G. Rohlfs".

  • One or more didactic excursions on the territory of the Municipality of Bova and guided visits to the Language Museum, with the aim of seeing and making direct use of the historical, archaeological and artistic finds, through which it is possible to reconstruct the history of the place in the best possible way and, at the same time, to allow the students to focus on it and to "touch with their own hands" the concrete historical development.

  • Realisation of a final product by the pupils involved. Themes and content of the work will be agreed in advance with the reference teachers. At the end of the course, the works, evaluated by a special commission, will be published in the press and through the official channels of the organisation and then awarded during a theme evening dedicated to local excellence.
